Finally matter resolved through Banking Ombudsman

I fought for more than a year to cancel my DD and get refund of Rs. 1000. Finally problem resolved after writing more than forty mails and many calls. 

Case Facts

I got 2 dd of Rs 1000 each from SBI, IIMA branch for payment of Conference fees at New Delhi in February 2015. After a month I got call from conference organiser Rukmini Devi Institute, New Delhi stating that one dd passed n one returned for some reason by their bank PNB, ROHINI BRANCH, NEW DELHI. They asked me to pay Rs 1000 cash n take dd back. I did the needful.

I took the DD n submitted to SBI IIMA branch. Manager told me that payment of that dd already been done. I was shocked to hear that. How can I carry dd for which payment already done. I wrote many mails to Managers n High Officials of SBI n PNB n pursued the matter for months. I did not get any positive responses. Finally I wrote to Banking Ombudsmen n complaint resolved. PNB transferred Rs 1000 in my account.

This incidence shows big blunder of PSU bank.
